19 week pregnancy udpate

19 weeks pregnancy update
Top - Bottom & Left - Right
A book I'll be reviewing on here in coming weeks, it's a bit of a beast, so it's slow progress, but I've made a start on it finally.  The view from my desk window at the weekend, so pretty with Caerphilly mountains as the backdrop.  My desk after deciding to throw out a load of my old makeup.  My Nica bag, the strap broke after about 10 months, not impressed.  A hand cream I'm trying out for my beauty blog, not very happy with it so far.  And finally, a new nail polish I've been wearing - after a week of wear and only one coat, it was practically chip free!

I can't believe it's only one week to go until my 20 week scan! I'm so happy about that!!!!!  I just want to get to the scan and know everything is ok with Squidge and whether we're having a boy or girl :)

MY WEEK
It's been a bit of a funny week.  My jeans... well, they were getting tighter on the waist band when sitting (so tried the hairband trick), but they're getting baggier around the legs and everywhere else... doesn't make for a very flattering look.  So I invested in some maternity jeans from Bon Prix who do plus size maternity wear, and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed.  They're nice and clingy, just how I like my jeans, and they don't dig in at my waist.  There's not a whole lot of room to grow in them though, so we'll have to see how my pregnancy progresses.

SYMPTOMS
Much the same.  Still have the nausea when brushing my teeth, blowing my nose or hearing something disgusting etc.  Still very achy and quite tired, I get tired really easily too which isn't fun, I just can't seem to do anything anymore without needing a nap.

WEIGHT
Up 4lbs on two weeks ago (last time I weighed myself) - I seem to fluctuate between this, and staying the same as pre-pregnancy.

DIET
This is where my week has been funny.  So, I was reading a pregnancy book last week and about being vegetarian and mum-to-be and I read that pregnant ladies need 75g of protein a day, to keep a healthy baby, and that protein is the #1 most important thing you need to consume.  Well, it's fair to say, on a typical day I probably get 15-20g of protein, not even enough for a non-preggers lady.  So I've been on a mission to try and eat more protein - 2 days of the last week I've managed to have over 70g, but it's been a real chore.  I'm going to have to buy more lentils and beans as they're packed full of it :) Also going to see the Drs, as I think most of the way I'm feeling in the symptoms bit above is down to a big lack of protein, hopefully he'll be able to help.

BUMP
Same as before, I don't look pregnant, but when I like down I can feel a firmness.  Still not felt any kicking, possibly some fluttering, but it's hard to tell if it's just a twitch (that's what it feels like, and is often after I sneeze).

NEXT SCAN/APPOINTMENT
Tuesday 27th May, WHOOP!

BABY STUFF
Bought nothing new this week other than the maternity jeans.  Once the scan is done and if everything looks ok, we'll go nuts :)

  1. Hi Georgina!

It was great to read your blog again. How are you feeling? Time goes so fast right! Your scan is only a week away now! :)
great you found better pants! And I am sure you will figure it out with the proteins. :) I am trying to think of anyone who is also vegetarian and had a baby but I can't seen to think of anybody you could ask for tips or follow their blog.. but I am sure you will do greatly and will have your super healthy and cute baby in your arms in October! :)

I had this extra scan last week! Was so nice to see the little dude (yes we will be team blue;). Such a big change from 2 months ago. Then the whole thing was 3 cm, now just his little foot alone is 3 cm already. Crazy! I still have to wait for my 20 week scan until mid June.. They decided to do it in the last possible week or day even. And I will get a second one at some clinic who is more specialised in it since my boyfriend had a minor heart failure at his birth.. :/ now I am even more worried. It was great seeing the little guy on screen live last week but since I am still not feeling much of him moving (except during a very bumpy and with lots of breaking bus ride) I still think something might be wrong all of a sudden.
But well nothing you can do about it but wait..
I hope you are doing well and I will be counting the days with you! Very excited to hear about your can and everything around it! :)

    Take care!
    Xx

    1. Hey lovely - totally meant to reply to this yesterday but time got away from me :)

So glad you got to see your baby again :D I'm feeling ok thanks, I'm just worried about the scan, I just want to see that Squidge is ok, then I'll be happy. There's a pregnancy forum I go on, and one of the girls on there had her 20 week scan today - before it she said she was nervous as she hadn't been feeling pregnant (which is how I feel) - well, she had bad news at the scan, there's something really wrong with her baby - so I just worry too - all normal and I know everyone does, I'm just such a worrier :P

I went to see the Dr about the protein and they told me not to worry and just eat the amount of protein I'm comfortable with :)

Congrats on team blue!!! I'm certain that's what I'll be too :) Try not to worry about your babies heart, you're having the best possible care, and besides, if you get to have a couple of extra scans, you get to see him a couple extra times :) I haven't been feeling much or any movement either. There's been a couple of times I think I may have felt something, but I can't be sure - I'm just too impatient :P

I'll be doing my usual weekly update on Monday next week (20 week!), and on Tuesday evening (after the scan) I'll do another post, whether it's good news or bad news :)

Glad you're well, look forward to hearing from you again soon :)

  2. Hey!
I just wrote a massive comment and then it was gone all of a sudden. Aaah! I hope I can write it all again.. phone Technic.. The worst!

Those forums are the worst though too. They always bring me to crazy new ideas that I l wasn't even aware of before! I am trying to stay away of those now hehe

I am sure you and your little squidge will be perfectly healthy!
Great you don't have to worry about the protein anymore. Will make eating a bit more relaxed then!

Very excited for your posts on Monday and Tuesday! And the sex of your baby! Then the name thing starts! Or do you already have thought up possible names?

But it is hard not to worry. I keep thinking even after I saw the little dude last week something is wrong again since I don't really feel him still either. But I guess as soon as you do feel them you will be worried again if they move less! And so the worrying will never stop I assume for the rest of your life! ;)
But i noticed that when I move a lot and then go sit down, relax and really focus on it sometimes I can really feel him kicking very lightly. Maybe that works for you too?

Good luck with nerves and have a nice weekend! Not long anymore now until your scan!! :D

    Xx
