Natural sea sponge for babies

Natural silk sea sponge

Until the last couple of months, I'd never used a natural sea sponge, I'm not sure if that makes me the same as most people, or somewhat of an oddity.  I was a lucky lady and was sent a honeycomb sea sponge for me to try out (reviewed on the beauty blog here) which I absolutely loved, I've never used a softer sponge!  And I was also sent this little sponge for little Squidge :)

It's a natural silk sponge which hails from Aegean sea - it's naturally the softest of the different sea sponges which makes it ideal for bathing babies, or as a face sponge (makes for a great cleansing sponge).  It's also the most dense of the sponges which makes it firm, yet still very soft as the fibres are very small.

In all honesty, the honeycomb sponge I have is definitely soft enough for a baby too, but far too big! So far this is the only sponge I've used on Squidge when I bath him and he's suffered no skin irritation (he's got the typical baby dry skin after being born, but that's it).  Sea sponges are naturally anti-bacterial too, which again makes them great for babies.

I do have another sponge I want to try him with (an Konjac baby sponge) but what I love about this one is how pretty it looks sitting on the windowsill - something normal sponges don't do really, look particularly pretty :P

These sponges will set you back £14* for a 4 - 4.5 inch one, I know that's not exactly cheap, only you will know if you feel it's worth it.  Personally I love it and I know it'll last a long time, and I love how pretty it is :)
