Fisher Price Thomas & Friends Tray Play Booster Seat

Gosh that's a mouthful of a title!  Sorry that I was a little quiet on here last week, thought I'd have myself a week off :)  Well, now I'm back and I have lots of posts to share with you! The first of which is about this lovely little high chair booster seat.

Now that we're in full swing with Squidge's weaning, a portable high chair like this is a must.  Space is pretty critical in our house, so we really liked the idea of a space saver like this.  It's still a little on the small side for him, so we have a rolled up blanket behind him, however he's now stopped falling to the side and can hold himself up really nicely (after these pics were taken).

The seat is great - it'll fit him for a long time.  Only after looking at this picture did I realise we had the table on all wrong! We've been doing it right since, but basically you just clip it into one of those red pegs sticking out depending on how big or little your baby is.  The seat gets strapped on - one strap goes behind the char and the other undeath.  The baby gets strapped in with a T trap too.

It has a Thomas the Tank Engine clip on toy that fits onto the table really well.  It doesn't need batteries or anything - the baby/child is able to move the train around the track - although Squidge's favourite thing to do is to lean down and chew the train and the yellow bar :)

The Thomas the Tank Engine higchair unit (and table) is wipeable which is fantastic.  Gosh does he make a mess! (I'm loving the bee that few into shot when I was taking this picture too - he was massive!).

This is how it secures at the back.  You can make it looser or tighter so it fits to your chair.

We actually went back home to Pembrokeshire this past weekend to visit family and we took this with us.  It folded up well into the boot and clipped onto my step-dad's dining chair well.  We also got it out when we went to a cafe yesterday - their high chair was enormous, far too big for him and didn't have a bar that goes between the legs and he kept sliding out - so we got this out instead which was much easier.  The only thing was that we forgot the Thomas the Tank Engine toy that clips in - and he wasn't being fed, so he got a little bored!

The RRP is £34.99 which is feel is good value for money. It's well made, easy to use, it comes ready made, plus it's nice and colourful.  Here's some 'customer action shots' for you :)

Fisher Price Rainforest Friends Jumperoo

Back a few weeks ago we were having a play date at a friends house, and that friend had a jumperoo, so the little man had a play in it.  Instant success! He loved it!  Straight away he was bouncing and having fun, and for a decent amount of time.  At that point it dawned on me that we really should get one for him - it was very timely as it was when he started wanting to stand all the time (he still wants to stand all the time).  Realising just how expensive these are, we took to Gumtree to find a bargain, and after a couple of days of searching, we found one in Penarth for £25, amazing! It was in great condition, and with working batteries.

Around the seat are different activities to entertain themselves with, and the seat itself swivels really easily so they can move around.  There's also dangling stuffed animals for them to look up to and reach too.

The red frog seat can be removed and washed - you'll need to do this for two reasons, one being how much they slobber on it, and the other is the notorious 'jumperoo poo' - if your little one poops when they're in it, it's a bit of a poo-splosion and might well seep out onto the material.

The whole seat unit is held on by 3 straps which have 3 different heights.  Once your baby is able to put their feet flatly on the floor, they suggest moving it up to the next level.  Squidge is nearly 6 months old and has been on the level 2 setting for about 2 weeks (and he's a pretty small baby).

This is one of his favourite toys on the Jumperoo, it's a spinning rainforest frog with little coloured beads/balls in there that make a noise, he loves spinning this.

This is the main activity centre - there's 2 dangling toys and the blue one is an elephant that twists around.  There's also a barrel with pictures on it that rolls and coloured lights.  What I love about this is that the music responds to his movements, so when he bounces he makes the elephant make sounds, teaching him cause and effect and encouraging him to bounce.

I'm not sure I'd spend the full money on buying one new, but if you can pick up one second hand they're absolutely worth every penny - he spends lots of time in this and loves it - plus it gives you that few minutes to make a cup of tea or a sandwich, or stick a load of washing on :)

This is by far his favourite toy/activity :)

Fisher Price Newborn to Toddler Play mat

If you're a mummy or daddy, chances are you know and might well have, the Fisher Price Rainforest play mat - it's really popular (we have one) for a good reason - the music is great, the toys that dangle off it are great, it's roomy (square) and babies seem to love it.  However, Fisher Price have released an alternative, the newborn to toddler gym, one that can last a bit longer, as it's designed for different stages of your baby's development.

It's suitable from newborn - at this point, they can lie on their back and enjoy the coloured lights, music and dangling toys - and get some tummy time.  As they get a little older, they can reach out to grab the dangling toys and kick them.

Once your baby is able to sit up, the play mat goes together differently.  The end of the mat folds up and has little pouches on it that the baby is able to put things in, like the 5 coloured balls that come with the play mat.  They're also still able to grab the dangling toys and enjoy the mat from a different position/angle.

Once your baby is able to stand up, they can hold on to the bridge as it's very sturdy.  If they lean against it, it could fall over to be careful and make sure play times with it are always supervised.  The fun they can have once they can stand and coordinate better continues! The arch is also a runway/tunnel for the balls which gather either side (and can run out of the end).

These are pretty much all the parts it comes in, not many - there's also a little bag with the balls in, and the 2 toys that dangle from the arch.

Where the balls gather either side - see the flap holding them in place?  When that gets... I think it was 3 balls there, it opens up and they roll out - endless playing fun for the little ones :)

The music that plays is great and really responsive to their activity, encouraging them to interact and move the toys.  It plays for 20 mins and then will stop, you just need to slide the slider across again to start it off.

Squidge really enjoys this baby gym, we've been keeping it at his grandparents so that every time we go over he can have fun, tummy time and practise rolling over :)  We have pretty limited space at our house, in fact, our house is tiny, so we have to be really picky and choosy over what we keep in the house.

I'm not sure if he prefers this or the Rainforest friends play mat - he interacts with both differently, the Rainforest mat he can easily roll over on as it's wider, but with this mat he interacts with the toys more and grabs his feet more.

Fisher Price Rainforest Friends Take-Along Swing

This swing from Fisher Price is part of their Rainforest collection - I must admit, nearly all the toys that we've bought for Squidge have been part of this range - so far he also has the play gym, the jumperoo and the old style swing (the one that has the leaf hanging over the top).  I love the style, how colourful they are and all the sounds.  The seat is covered in the Rainforest Friends you'll have seen on their other products like the play mat - Squidge loves the Giraffe, he always stares and smiles at him :)

The settings are on the side of the arm that you can carry the seat by.  The seat has 6 different speeds, 10 different musical tunes, including nature sounds and 2 dangling animals (a plastic lion & elephant).  The baby is secured in place with a 5 point restraint as well, similar to the kind you get on some prams, and on the previous Rainforest friends swing.  The seat also has a vibrate setting - to do this just secure the seat in place with the restraint underneath (it fastens with velcro when not in use to stop it dragging on the floor).

The vibrate setting is the little man's favourite, it really chills him out.  It doesn't send him to sleep, but he seems really content in it, even without holding a toy.

This can hold a baby up to 25lbs, however, I have read that it's suggested that once the baby is able to sit up unaided, they ideally shouldn't be in these as much - I don't know how true that is though?

I love how much more secure this new version feels compared to the old one (pictured below), the pattern on the seat is also more bright and colourful.  It's so much easier to pick up and move around as well as you can do it one handed, whereas with the old one, you really needed both hands to move it about.  

I think that this newer version was easier to put together than the old one as well, always a bonus when you're looking after a baby at the same time!  The only suggestion for improvement I'd give Fisher Price for the new take-along swing, is to make the buttons are easier to depress to be able to collapse it - personally, I'm just not strong enough to be able to do that by myself (unless I'm doing it wrong!?).

The new swing has different music to the old one too, personally, I like them both - the new one has better variety but I think the old one had more memorable tunes.

Our old one now lives at Squidge's grandparents, that way whenever he's there, he can still enjoy it and have some chill-out time.   Overall, I really like the new version, I think it's all-round better than the old one and improved on.  It also looks neater and more together, and isn't as wide as the old one, so it takes up less space, it feels like much better quality.
